ha ha. And when I clicked on this thread, I thought that was my car! We have very similar wheels, 20" Zinik Z18 minardis on ours!

Is there 20 inch tyres in 35 profile that suit the load lating of the cx7?

With bigger rims you gotta go the lowest profile otherwise it spoils the look of the car

Yes but you want the ABS and the odo to work, because there is no program to fix the speedo avalible for the CX-7.

It's called the "1% Rule", where the diameter of the aftermarket wheel setup is 1% or less different than the overall OEM stock wheel diameter...that's what you've got to be thinking about. My wheels and tires fall in that range, therefore everything works correctly,..ABS, speedometer, DSC and TCS systems, etc. If you happen to install a wheel/tire combination that does not comply with the Rule, then you're basically screwed in so many ways:(:(!

Twenty-inch wheels get 45-series tires, and 22" wheels get 35-series tires, that's the 1% Rule in action.

I got 20inch rims with 35 profile tyres on my other car, which came from the factory.

Finially getting the cx7 on wednesday and taking it for a 2500km interstate trip, and when I come back I will look for the black rims I want

Yes but the diameter will be off from the original wheels, your tach will be off, ABS will work improperly, and it will over rev the engine if the overall diameter is too small from the original 18's.

Overall you need to stick with the 45's if you want everything working properly, if you go with 35's 65 on the mph will be 58mph, etc.

Someone needs to tell my CX-7's ABS to stop working. We have 40 series on our 20" wheels, and they have come on when needed.

It's off only a little, it shouldn't be that big of a difference, however 35 is.

Eric, according to your signature, your wheels are 45 series! If you're running 40 series tires you should change the signature. I think that Tire Rack would send you 45's unless you specifically ordered differently.

Your statements about 45 series and 35 series are incorrect. The correct aspect ratio depends on the width of tire you are running. You install the correct overall diameter of tire to keep you speedo close to stock calibration. In my case, 245/45-20 tire is within 1% of stock. Raider is running 255/40-20 which is also very close (I believe even closer than my tire size).

Oops - Raider is running 255/45-20. In any case, his sizing is closer to OEM than mine (he is only 0.2% off). However, there are tradeoffs to running the wider tire. One is weight, 2nd is steering feel, and 3rd is gas mileage. Also, depending on the vehicle, there can be fit issues too with wider rubber. Everything is a compromise.

With a proper aggressive street alignment the steering feel can be improved(if camber and such can be adjusted on the CX-7), as for gas mileage we're talking no real difference.

Oh and Raider, can you clairfy what series your sidewall is because that last post says one thing and your sig says another.

I doubt the stock suspension has much camber adjustment. Camber doesn't affect steering as much as toe does anyway.

Yeah, I checked this weekend, forgot which threat I messed up. 45 series. Speed 3 of mine, 40 series. Get my two Mazdas confused a lot in my old age.
