Hi

Sorry, no idea on the Australian version. However here is my story..........

I traded my Kluger (Highlander) Grande on a CX-7 two weeks ago. As the Kluger had SAT NAV I wanted something similar. After much research I bought a TomTom 910. It does a lot of things my old Toyota in car system didn't - reads street names, reads text messages etc. It is also handy being able to take it inside and sort out a route while watching TV. The small screen isn't a problem but it does get washed out when in direct sunlight - going to invest in a hood. I have it sitting just under the rear-view mirror and it doesn't look too bad - obviously when charging the cable isn't too pretty.

At a $1000 AUD (approx) it is a lot cheaper than an in car unit. My Toyota unit failed while under warranty, the dealer told me it would cost $3000 plus to replace outside warranty - which wasn't a great thrill.

Hope this helps.

The dealer that I ordered my CX7 from today contacted me to let me know that they have just installed an aftermarket Sat Nav/DVD/Bluetooth/Reverse Camera system into a CX7 and that they have it as a display model for people to see and purchase if they wish. Needless to say I jumped in the car from work to check it out and spent nearly an hour with the dealer looking at all the gadgets.

The system they have installed is the AVN 6000 which aparently is the best 'in car' system on the australian market. There are two DVD screens, one in the front as part of the sat nav system and the other as a separate system for those in the rear of the car ( complete with wireless headphones)

Overall the system was very impressive and until Mazda in Australia get there act together it is certainly an alternative worth looking at. The cost for the Sat Nav/DVD/Bluetooth/Reverse Camera installed was 4200 and the extra DVD system for the rear pasengers was 1700 extra. I think these costs are about the same as mazda would charge in australia to supply and install the factory model ( if only we could get is here in Oz)

If ayone is interested the dealer is AMR in Peterham (Sydney) and given the excellent service I have received to date I have no hesitation in recommending any potential or existing CX7 purchaser/owner to them.

I hope this info helps out. Cheers
