View Full Version : Any new bugs/enhancement requests for the forum?

The owner wants to know of the current bugs. I will be emailing soon.
I know we cannot go "up" to the main section a thread is in, like this thread. You cannot go back to Suggestions.
If you have any feedback, please go into detail. Mazoom, the page view, please give me details, ok?

It could be two things
It seems like whoever did the redesign removed the $cronimage variable from the footer template. Because they we're working prior to the redesign.
Or you could update it in the AdminCP under maintenance

$Cronimage is made to appear as an image source so that the associated cron php file will be guarenteed to be called. If you remove it, scheduled tasks will not execute(like auto updated view counts).

ok. Break it down to basics.

LOL. In summary, there are some threads with 5 posts, but only 2 views.
At least I think that's the issue we're talking about...
Raider

That is what I needed!!!
Got any links to show this?
MAZOOM

Try this first
Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Update Thread Views Immediately -> Yes
But as I can see you will need to go back in to the template and add in the code, it's probably gone.
<div align="center">
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$vboptions[copyrighttext]
</div>
</div>
Oh, just check the thread views, they are always one up from the total replies in the thread.
The older threads that had the old template with the correct coding, updated the views properly so those have the correct view counts, before this new template was done, and they stopped again.

I do not have access to that part, but I am sending a link to this thread, so I am asking for threads with more posts than views to be posted here.
Superstretch18

Figures that now I can't find one. Most threads though have only one more view than post count. Take a look at the today's threads link and you'll see...
Raider

I cannot find any. Seemed all correct

This is whats happening.

It's not right, it only reflects the number of total posts in the thread, not actual view count, because the coding is missing in this template that replaced the original default layout.
Raider
08-14-2008, 12:27 AM
Unfortunately, I am not seeing any issues with the posts being off. There are 9 replied on some. Are you saying the # of views is not working? That if it says 30 views, there should be more?
MAZOOM
08-14-2008, 12:30 AM
Some of these newer threads have the view counter reflecting views before we switched over to this new design. If you check the newer threads that we're made after we switched over, you will notice a trend that they are not updating at all.

I finally caught what you were talking about. I emailed it to the owner, andhe is opening a ticket to resolve 3 bugs.
1) views are not working
2) gap between Calendar and Today's Posts
3) no link to go "up" from a thread.
Anything else, post up, so I can have it fixed!
Raider

#1 is fixed, sort of. New threads as of this morning are showing proper view/post counts. Not sure ho to fix older threads.
#2 fixed. Not sure if I want to move the Search up, I kind of like it out there, so it is seen.

Now that the gap was removed, you can't use the "New Posts" link. The Calendar and New Posts are highlighting as a single hyperlink to the Calendar...

No worries. In the meantime, you can use "Today's Posts" to see the most recent additions...

I never use new posts, as I might miss something. I will look into the problem, still.

the "calendar" link and the "new posts" links are tied/linked together to the calendar. that's the problem. i only use the new posts link. there are times, like today, that i've been traveling and can't check every day. so if i click "today's posts" i only get todays (i'm guessing), and not yesterdays............................... FIX IT! I can't stand it ;D

I will mess with it tomorrow. Will fire up the lappy with IE on it. I think it is a simple break that needs to be put in.
Raider

Of course, until then, download and use Firefox. More secure, and the issues does not affect it. :)

Sweet. Now to get the ability to go "up" from a thread fixed. I did not design the new setup, and I am 100% open to suggestions if you all might know. I Am not the master of all forum software. But I did make it so you can see who else is checking out a thread!

I know this might be popular for some, what about the option to go to the original vbulletin skin?
Raider

That will not happen, trust me.

glad you are open to suggestions cause i have a couple..
the subjects just look crappy when centered, should be aligned to the left in my opinion.
also when you are reading a topic you cant click back into the previous section, you have to use the left menu.. very annoying!!
i have attached some pics! :) keep up the good work!

I do not have that problem on my computer. Perhaps it is a monitor setting/size? What browser are you using?

One thing I noticed recently is that if you go to a user's profile, you can't get to a list of their posts like you used to. Unless I'm missing it (which is entirely possible too).

The navigation issue, where you cannot go "up" to the main sub-section of the forum, is fixed.
The lack of left justification, and that random Post Reply (I get that too) on the top of the thread is still being resolved. There is still a Post Reply at the bottom. of the thread.

yup much better - cheers!!

I did not fix it personally, but it was one thing that drove me nuts that finally was addressed. Now to get the text left justified and the top left post reply gone.

Oh ,I added the "similar topics" option to show other thread that might be relevant. Scroll to the bottom of a thread...
