2 way radio in CX7 [Archive]

Anybody installed a 2 way radio in a CX7. Its getting harder and harder to find a good location to mount 2 way radios on newer cars. The only place I can think of right now is inside the center console. Any ideas?:eek:

Nobody installed 2 way radio on CX7s.......I found a nice spot but mounting the antenna is another challenge.

I am old school - when all power goes down, 2 way radios will still be up and running and no airtime fees - use it mostly when travelling with 2 or more vehicles.

whew! im glad you took that the right way... thought about it afterwards and hoped you didnt take offense. some folks are pretty thin skinned... im ready for the pix already. just be careful with the drillin'!

No worries - didn't take any offense at all. You're right - with the advent of cellphones and internet...there is probably less people interested in those things however they do come in handy. I listened in mostly to truckers giving updates on fender benders or smokeys around the corner but for car to car comms - I rely mostly on FRS/GMRS radios and only resort to SMS (text messaging) if I lost contact which is very rare. Will keep you posted on my progress.:)

steering wheel is on the wrong side! : )

I'd want a hook for the mic rather than have it slide around in the center console...

Canada is left hand drive : )

Don't want to drill any more holes - I'll just slap a velcro pad somewhere to stick the mic in place ;)
