My car got damaged in a parking lot. Anyone know how to get a front bumper scuff fixed in the GTA? Or should I replace the whole thing? To replace, they're about 300 dollars for a new bumper skin and another 400 dollars for labor and paint, not including tax.
My CX-7 is only 5 months old. AARG. I'm guessing if I replace the whole bumper it will be just like new again.
But since the car is so new, would they be able to just repair the damaged area and paint match.
Thoughts, suggestions. Thanks.

I had a pretty big scratch on my rear bumper. The shop fixed that when they were doing repairs to fix damage to the front door somebody backed into. They repainted the whole thing, looks like new. I was worried that since it's plastic and the scratch was deep enough to gouge through the paint into the bumper, the repair might not be perfect, but it isn't noticeable. So yeah, they can probably repair it. I guess the cost you're quoting is from the dealer? Take it to a good shop and see what they'll do for you.
Not sure where in the GTA you are, but KKT in Markham is fantastic. 20 Heritage Road Unit 12 in Markham is the address. 905 472-1115 and the person is Jack.

Cool Thanks. I was assuming since it was plastic, it would have to be replaced. I live in Markham and will check out KKT, thanks. I've also had good work done in the past right around the corner at Canco Carstar. I"ll check them out. I'm leary to go through the dealer for body work/paint.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to try the dealer either. I called them to ask if they'd recommend a shop and they did. It turned out to be the same shop my insurance (AAA) recommended, so I went there and they did a great job. You could ask your dealer who they use, maybe.

If it is more than just a light scratch in the clear coat then you will need a body shop to re-shoot it.

So I got the bumper fixed at a shop that did some really fine body work on my wife's car. The fix is great, nice work however the color match is off. You can't really notice it when the bright sun is on the bumper but if its in the shade, you can tell the bumper is a SLIGHT shade darker than the rest of the vehicle. (Copper Red) Its driving me crazy. The guy who owns the shop says the plastic bumpers are the achilles heel of the auto industry and its likely the color was off before, but I notice it more now because I know it has been fixed. He has offered to take it back and blend the color on the fenders, for free, but I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I don't know what this entails. Can someone explain it to me. Will this help the color match?

yikes! then the hood then the roof then the doors... i feel for you. it would bug the crap out of me also. wish i had some words of wisdom, but i had a tribute that i had to have a front bumper replaced and the color match was off just a tad, pretty much the same as you described. body shop was a quality shop and they said the same thing about the plastic stuff...

A good body shop can match it. Just takes skills to match the paint. Our rear hatch and drivers door have been resprayed. Matches perfect. With the vast majority of cars with plastic bumpers, they should match it. I would call the insurance company (you got it through insurance, so probably a lifetime guarantee on the work-right?)
A lot of shops will blend, but it will still show up if not right.

I call BS.
They failed to mix the color correctly to match your paint. You should make them re-shoot it with the correct color...!
The bumpers are typically "slightly" different in colour than the rest of the body as they are usually done in another facility. Check the back bumper and it most likely is just a little different in colour. Personally, unless it is really off, I would not have the bumper blended with the rest of the vehicle.

Due to my Son hitting my bike I had to have my front bumper refinished.
They matched it perfectly. But it is a good shop.
