Hi everyone,

I finally decided to call the insurance company (a month after installing the mods) to declare them. When I asked if I could install the cold air intake, I was told that the company has a strict no engine mod policy and any damage to the car will not be reimbursed in case of a claim if it is established that engine modifications indeed
have been made. Other mods (eg suspension) are ok.

I really want to keep the mods, but I don't want to switch or risk having the car not covered even more, so unfortunately CP-e CAI, TurboXS hybrid BOV and CP-e QuickPower midpipe must go. Please note shipping time frame for each item.

Also includes printed instructions and necessary hardware.

There are insurance companies out there that will cover your mods to the car.

I changed my insurance company when they wouldn't cover my wheels, now i have all my mods covered with another insurance company.

Yeah I know, but I have a pretty good rate with this company, plus I renewed the yearly contract back in July, so it's really not worth the hassle or the money (switching is guaranteed to be more expensive even in the first year). I'm keeping the springs and rims though. These AutoExe springs are a little expensive, but definitely worth the money.

Yeah true, It's always going to be more expensive the more mods you do to the car.

Good luck with the sale, you will miss them!

I changed insurance companies, too. Cheaper, even with the mods covered.

I can't see how you would get your engine covered under insurance anyway if it "failed." Insurance isn't going to pay for mechanical problems which is what these modifications would cause.

If you got into an accident or someone rammed you and destroyed your engine they would still have to replace your engine even if modded.... If you blow your engine, at least in the US - your auto insurance probably isn't going to cover that due to mechanical failure. Now if you somehow managed to run the car with the blown engine into a tree.....

Unless Canada has mechanical breakdown insurance I can't see how this is even a factor.

I don't declare any of my mods to my insurance company. If I total the car I'll be out the cost of the intercooler and a couple other things. Hell, even if you tell them you have aftermarket wheels they'll just jack your rates up, but in reality the cost to replace aftermarket wheels is less than OEM wheels.

^ Most canadian companies have a 'no mod' or 'no engine mod' policy. If they discover that you do have one, you will be dropped. That is, if you get into an accident (no matter whos fault it is) and the adjuster finds out that you had CAI, then the company will drop you. Plain and simple.

Sucks, just sounds like another excuse to not approve a claim. Is everything still for sale?

Pretty much what they are doing.

Another reason not to live in Canada... No mods.... :D

Sorry to hear. What about flashing your ECM they will not be able to see that..???

BOV is sold. The other sales are suspended until spring. Working on the car is way too messy right now.
