A war room where topics and discussions would be allowed to be more heated within limits but you would know you were entering a war room topic??

I have used these on other forums

I would love one, because it's pretty restrictive as far as anything like that goes.

I have seen em, and they can get downright ugly. It took a lot to even go off-topic here. Really, our forum I feel is the #1 CX-7 forum out there for the simple fact we have very little off-topic stuff, and members and moderators here work hard to keep drama and other crap out of our "house".

If we do get an area of no-hold-barred, I can see the attention from our forum going from CX-7's to completely off topic stuff we ultimately really do not need here.

That is my POV, I could be wrong, but am open to hear good arguments as to why it should be allowed, and any examples you can post, please do.

i am not part of many forums, 2-3 maybe, but i like the fact that this forum isnt full of bullsh*t. i can come on here and read opinions, reviews, whats new, whats coming, ect... if people want crap there are thousands of other forums available for that. but if you guys do it, cool. your house, ill respect it, im just here for the beer and pretzels...

I agree with Raider. This is a CX7 forum. If people want to talk about guns, politics, or whatever, there are other forums for that.

Meh, the thing I've always liked about this forum is that there is very little drama going on. Usually a more mature and civil group than you are likely to encounter other places on the internets. I'd hate to start inserting drama. My .02 cents...

I just thought to throw out the idea as it appeared to me that some of our members wish we had an area where they had more freedom to respond.

I have also seen threads get real ugly so most still have some rules regarding behavior.

So whichever way the moderators go is still fine with me.

I agree.

Again, show am open to hear good arguments as to why it should be allowed, and any examples you can post, please do.

Really, show me some examples of where this would be beneficial to our forum?

My theory would be 1 topic I can see getting downright ugly, and that is politics. People have very strong feelings these days, I know I do personally, and if we had a thread debating one versus the other, I see it tearing the forum apart, and the sense of community that makes us stronger than any other CX-7 forum out there, lost.

Show me some examples where this as worked, and also, why our CX-7 forum has to be a place where we have those type of threads.

We ( and our moderation team) is not closed minded to where this is an automatic "no!". Remember, it was asked for an off-topic section, and we created it.

I would just like to see a few sections elsewhere, ideas of the threads started, and kind of see how that will be good for us.

Well the off topic area already allows these topics.

One would think that more members spending more time here would make sponsors happier than if they went to other forums to discuss other topics.

Which is why there is an off topic section. You have to still be nice which is a good thing generally.

Most war room topics are Politics, religion, race, sex etc topics. Most I have seen argue but they do it with facts etc. But as Raider has pointed out there will always be someone who feels free to say anything nasty they can think off to another member if that members views differ from theirs. Which is not what freedom of speech is about.

I like to discuss politics etc but as an adult not like 5 year olds in an alley.

Just some thoughts.

Raider, never meant to say you or the other mods are narrow minded etc. I realize why you have what you have. Just an idea.

We actually added a Politics section over at NICO (Nissan/Infiniti forum) and it has actually turned out really good. It did bring out the bad in some people but for the most part it has been a great section.

We do get a lot of heated debates going but for the most part we haven't had to moderate very hard. I wouldn't personally go with no rules or minimal rules, there still need to be rules, but you can definitely still make it fun and interesting. At the very least, I've found our Politics section to be very informative. You get to the see what's going on with all sides of politics and get to discuss your views on it while seeing others' views as well. We've actually even had some people change who they're voting for due to info posted there.

Based on the past experience of this particular forum though, I'm not sure I would vote for a war section. This forum gets heated over less important things as gasoline octane.
