Has anyone asked their dealer to turn in the Auto-lock feature? My dealer said they would, but that it would cost me $80.00. Needless to say....I am really ticked off.

Hi Turbo-Nut,

The dealer where you bought the car from should do this for free. Apparently it takes them a good bit of time so it may be worth getting down at your next oil change.

My dealer has tried twice to turn it on for me, but it's still not working  I've emailed Mazda to see if they can shed any light on it!

Well, I heard back from Mazda. The only help they were was to say 'work with the dealer, they have access to Mazda Tech Support'.

No good news I'm afraid.

That feature ticks me off.
I didn't know about it until it lead me to lock my keys in my house.
Grrr.

I contacted my Dealership and they contacted MAZDA and I was told that the CX-7 "Does NOT have that feature available".
Unless someone KNOWS different, I guess we just SOL!!:(

Wezdom, if your dealer RTFM they'd see in section 3-10 of the Owners Manual that there is infact an AutoLock feature.

Some dealers are just Laaaaazy and just don't put in the effort that they should.

Good luck in getting things going - if you manage it let me know!:)

THANKS but..............................
The AUTOLOCK I am looking for is for the doors to automatically lock when car is placed in gear and unlock when put in park (my other two cars do it).
The auto lock feature mentioned in the manual is tied with leaving the vehicle and the doors automatically locking instead of pushing a button (see 3-20). ;)

Aaaah, gotcha now mate. I didn't know that the CX-7 had that option! I'm still trying to get that AutoLock feature turned on that's mentioned in the manual.

AWDGalaxy, the AutoLock feature that I'm after is for if you have the Tech Package. When it's enabled the car should lock itself and arm the alarm when you walk away from it.

I would like this as well as my Wife's Bug has it and now I am spoiled...

Is it on all CX-7's or only ones with certain options...????

The autolock feature referred to where the car locks itself when you walk away is only available with the advanced keyless entry system that is only provided with the Tech package as far as I know...

As for the OTHER autolock feature where the doors lock and unlock when the car is put in drive/park is apparently not available on the CX-7 which is amazing to me. I have two other much cheaper cars that have that feature. It is very interesting what small features that Mazda choose to leave of the CX-7 for as nice as it is...

Okay, Mazda currently does NOT have an autolock while in gear feature. It DOES however have an auto lock if you were to unlock the doors from the remote and then reclose the doors without entering. It will auto lock the doors after 45-60 seconds. Remote start does the same thing. If you unlock the doors, then remote start the cx7, the doors will lock. Hope this helps.

Dealer programmed my doors to "Auto-Lock" per Manual and there was "No Charge".
Also got my Auto Dim/Temp/Compass/Home-Link Mirror "Hook-ed Up" that I transferred from my 3HB.

It is only on grand touring models with advanced keyless entry which is part of the tech package. I got this enabled on my speed 6 and I love it. In terms of it taking a long time to do? That isn't true at all. They hook the car up to the diagnostic computer and change the setting on the screen for auto lock from off to on. My dealer did it for me for nothing and told me that there are other fetures for the advanced keyless entry system that Mazda hasn't even communciated to the dealerships.

My dealership did it for me for free also. They were actually excited to do it! I love it too Copper... it's a great convenience feature.

I'd LOVE to know what other features are available that we don't know about yet!

when i turned her in for the tow package install, they flashed the ecu with the new program. i asked the service tech if he would set me up with the auto lock feature, and he did. for free! said it was no prob just a matter of pressing on on the diag machine... ya sean! thanks bro!

What did the ECU Flash do for you??

it gets rid of the stall when accelerating. sometimes when cruising and going up a hill the car will shudder. the best way i can describe it is that it feels like the car is towing something and theres that pull from behind. but the ecu flash fixes this. i think mazda put out a letter to their techies that says to flash them when customers come in for service. i remember reading that somewhere else in the forum...

Regardless of what everyone is saying, my cx-7 that i picked up last saturday locks its doors when i put it in gear. i gotta check again, but im pretty sure it also unlocks the doors when i turn it off.

The lame part is that the aftermarket alarm that the dealer installed arms when the autolock kicks in, so i am forced to use the fob to disarm the car which make the whole advanced keyless stuff kinda worthless. I am taking it in tomorrow to get some options installed and im hoping they can change this crap with the aftermarket alarm.

Ill put up some pictures soon and also maybe a video of the locks engaging when i put it in gear.

The reason your doors autolock when shifting in/out of drive is due to the aftermarket alarm installation. That is an option on a lot of the systems.
BUT, according to MAZDA, there is no setting "Factory Wise" to do anything except when you walk away, the doors will "AUTOLOCK". That is as long as you have the Keyless Capability and the dealer activates it to do so..

Its got to be such a simple thing to set up given the locks are powered I just don’t get why they don’t set it up across all there models with power locks. Its the little things that disappoint me with Mazda  . The base model Mazda 3 I had whilst the 7 was in the shop had the ambient temperature displayed my 7 that costs nearly 8 grand more doesn’t WTF!!!. The 3 had no powered locks, windows, mirrors.....but it gets the ambient temperature. The 7 has the display its just not hooked up to the poxy but of wire.

Anyone know what these extra features are?
