Bose system plays mp3??

I'm new in this forum, I have the regular cd player on my cx-7, do you Know if the bose/6 cd changer plays mp3??

Do you guys recomended this upgrade?? do you know how much it will cost including labor costs??

or should I wait for the dash kit and buy an aftermarket stereo??

Just get returned phone call from my dealership where they was trying to install MP3 changer second time on my Bose: MP3 changer that came as accessory can not be placed to cx-7 where bose installed, b/c they are incompatible, mazda factory says. so only option here - iPod

There are 3 CD players available.

One will play MP3 CDs too. Mine will not.

I have the I pod cable and do not have a nav system and it works fine for me.

I have BOSE package with 6 CD Changer. I ordered 6 disk CD-MP3 changer to install. Guys in dealership make two attempts to install it - but unsuccessfully. They got final response from factory: CD-MP3 changer can not be installed on BOSE package due wiring/compatibility issues.
Only option to have MP3 on BOSE package - it is iPod adapter. So, my car now is 3d time at dealership, and hope today they will install me something to play MP3.

My contribution is probabaly not much use, but here in Japan I have the Bose with Navi system and hard drive. The CD player is a single loader behind the navi/control touch screen but it is MP3 compatible. So most of my tunes are on the hard drive with a few MP3 compilations on CD.

You may be able to get some luck from your dealer if you mention that...

Here's the low down on CXZ-7 gadgets in Japan.

Hard drive system: Touch screen for TV/Voice recognition Navigation/reverse camera/bluetooth for phone & optional internet service specialised for travel (weather - local restaurant recommendations etc.) & MP3 CD/DVD & Hard drive.

Othger gadgets which will probably hit the US in upgrades are radar controlled cruise control (automatic braking & acceleration), collision avoidance braking, retractable mirrors with parking camera and turn signals, fog lamps incorporating driving lamps and indicators.

I am looking forward to an Mz style upgrade - hoping for stiffer suspension to hug the corners a bit tighter & reduce nose diving when braking (used to be an RX-8 driver - still adjusting!!!)

Yes it is the Bose system with a 6 disc CD changer.

It hooks into the head unit behind the dash and the cable comess out in the glove comparment. The wheel and Dash radio controls the I Pod. But it does not display song info like the I pod does.

I have the bose 6 cd and MP# with navigation when i try to play a MP# CD all it says is check CD and will not play. Are there certain CD that will and will not work with this unit?
