View Full Version : Don't buy OEM Nav if you don't have Tech Pack.
I bought the headunit from ebay, but one thing i didn't know is that the DVD-ROM nav main unit is under the passenger seat, wich didn't came with my buy, plus the NON-TECHNOLOGY CX-7 are NOT pre-wired for NAV like I have read several places, the NAV system needs the BOSE amp to work plus you have to buy the COMPLETE HARDNESS for the Head unit, main DVD unit , camera, and gps antenna.
I plug in the Nav to my CX-7 and you only use 2 plugs out of 5 that the unit haves, and it only works the AM/FM radio and CD but tyhe sound is minimal if you adjust volume up or down is the same low sound coming from the speakers.
Custom Double Din Dash here I come, and Eclipse or Pioneer Nav system

Sorry to read you had such difficulties, but want to express my appreciation for writing about your problems...sorta like a PSA. :)
Will you be able to return the unit back to ebay for a refund? I sincerely hope so!
Vince.

Somebody posted a link in a different thread for a double DIN unit that had bluetooth and other spiffy features for a great price. It was a company I never heard of before.
Can anyone refresh my memory on that post?
I suck at forums and can never figure out how to find something I remember seeing.
The funny part is that the list price of the OEM NAV head unit itself is $3700 and MSPR is $4200, Is still a good buy for someone who haves the technology package and have the radio damage.
I'm working on a refund because the seller said it came with the DVD MAP inside of the radio and it'snt he didn't know that the DVD-ROM main unit was under the seat either.
the sad part is that I just move to Orlando FL, and I sold my portable GPS , becuase I had this one. Now I'm kinda lost here until I buy a double din nav head unit.

It is tough, some thing will work for those who want to install em, like foglights being pre-wired on some cars, others, not 1 wire. My OEM nav on my speed3 is a factory only item, so invasive to install, my dealer looked at the rate costs to install, and said to order it, $2K in labor if not.
Welcome to Florida, btw!

Well, I am not quite sure I am prepared to give up on the OEM Nav just yet. Anything can be done... I went ahead and bought it. I am going to try to get it done. All I need to find now is the main DVD unit. The GPS antenna and the harness I am sure can be found as well... All keep you guys posted. Any thoughts or ideas please let me know!
