I found this article about a Troy Lee Designs version of the CX-7.

They mention engine mods, including larger turbo and intercoolers, but never mention the new output. I like the design of the hood.

Yeah, why spiders?
The off center hood scoop looks good though.
I wonder what the chances are of people racing CX-7's in the WRC?
If people start rallying them, we may start seeing more after market support.

isn't it a bit tall for WRC? Isn't it normally cars? Suburus, Audis?

But after market support is always welcome.

People can rally in any type of car, from pickups to old station wagons since its not always about going the fastest possible. But a professional rally race will never use a cx-7, so it would never get TV coverage to gain exposure.
At the same time, the cx-7 is mostly front wheel drive with traction control you can't shut off, a amateur rally racer probably couldn't afford the mods to fix that, so its not likely an amateur would use it either.

It could possibly show up in the next Gran Turismo video game. They put in cars with 60 hp and the VW beetle, so who knows?
