My CX-7 is now 4 months old and has done 6500kms without any problem. :) However this morning the engine warning light came on and stayed on.:(
I went to the Mazda garage this morning but they are closed over the Easter; however I was told that there is a problem and it is likely there will be a recall in the near future. I should continue to drive the car.
The problem was apparently exacerbated by the cold weather we are having (-7degC and snow).
Has anyone else heard of this?

Sorry, I have just found another thread about this. I will let you know how I get on when the service department is back on Monday.

The CEL light can scare you really quick, but that gas cap fix is a snap.
Happened to my CX-7 at the 1st fill-up, at about 11AM on a Tuesday right after I bought it. Went into service dept. at my dealer, they worked on it for about 1.5 hours, replaced the gas cap, reset the ECU, and whooosh! I was off and running, never to get a CEL again.

Just happened to me, I think. I have the new gas cap, but got in the car this morning, and the CEL lit up. I didn't think of the gas cap until I went to the gas station, popped the filler door, and just touched the cap. It fell off. I always secure the cap by turning it til it clicks 2 -3 times. Strange. Off to the dealer!
