Hey,

I picked up my new CX-7 two days ago and have been reading with interest some of the discussions surrounding insurance, fuel economy, and why not to buy that crazy ipod adaptor !

Thanks to aussiecx7 for the tip on insurance ... way better than my old insurer and a couple other quotes i received :)

Anyway, i just filled up for the first time and i'm really happy with the fuel economy, given that it's a turbo and a heavy beast ! I was able to return 11.5lt/100km which is the figure quoted by mazda. I did a couple trips down the peninsula which is not my usual driving experience, and i would say there was a 60/40 split highway/city. Still, that is better fuel economy than my old WRX ! I was almost put off buying one because of some of the fuel economy stories i have heard ... thankfully not the case personally.

Things i like about the car: the cool sound system; the auto lights off feature; and the information display (can't help playing with it).

Okay cool, I will try to post a few pix on the site soon !

Happy zoom zooming...

Guessing you got the luxury then, with the bose system.

Glad to here about the fuel economy. I just asked my friend (another Canberran local) about if he'd had an issues now he's got 5000k's on it and he said he got the engine check light a couple of thousand ago but the mazda dealer checked it and said it was a faulty sensor and they'd replace when the part came in (but it hasn't come on since so he thinks they disconnected it).

(actually edit that, saw your pics and it's the base model like i'm getting - sound system is good?)

Good to hear there are no major issues :)

Yeah, the standard sound system is great. I was toying with the idea of buying the luxury model just for the bose sound system, until the dealer suggested i take the standard version for a spin. There was very little difference in sound quality that i could hear, although you could crank up the bose a little louder :p

I'm currently burning some cd's for use in the cd stacker. I want to see if i can get the artist and track title to display on the information display. Has anyone tried this ?

Interesting to hear that you are happy with the oem sound system as most in the forums can't wait to replace it. I am looking forward to getting the base model but not willing to replace the oem unit. I guess I dont want to lose some functionality such as on-dash display and steering wheel mounted audio controls and to be honest, I'm not keen on stuffing-up the look of the dash.

Good to hear about your fuel ecomomy figures... not bad!

Congrats on your purchase and enjoy the ride.
