You might want to get more info on the those springs other than they lower it 1.5 inches...
What are their rates?
How does that compare to the stock springs rates?
Are they linear or progressive?
I guess if you don't care how it rides or handles and are only doing it for the looks it does not matter. Frequently higher spring rates are generated because you now have less travel availble which may help handling on a smooth road, on a bumpy real world road could be a kidney killer...
Though I admit a slight drop would make the stock wheels look better on it.
I do want to do something with my exhaust as that butt ugly thing they call our muffler has got to go...

I am going to talk to Cullen to see if we can get a group buy set up for the Auto Exe products through Street Unit.
I am interested in the exhaust, strut bar, and maybe some springs.
Think you guys might be interested?

I was unaware they stocked em. I am not sure if anyone has been in a group buy, but this is what I mentioned above. If we get a group of us interested in buying a bunch of the same parts, companies will be able to get us a group buy rate. That is what I was going to start through Street Unit, who also stocks Auto Exe, it is just not on their site. They do carry it though.
So let me know if I can try to get a deal going.

This is not forgotten for the Street Unit GB. There is a major redesign for the Street Unit website to make it easier for us to locate parts for our cars, so we have to do that before we can get the GB started. Part of the redesign is to get the Auto Exe Products loaded, so we can get the GB price going. If you are in a rush, call SU today. If you see a price elsewhere, 99% of the time, they can beat it.

I am specifically interested in the Auto Exe "Stainless Muffler" system, part number MER8500 on their English web page, at $118,000 yen, which is approximately $984.05 (!!), according to today's Yen to $$$ converter, which is here, in case anyone else wants to use it:
http://coinmill.com/JPY_USD.html
Imagine that! $1000US for a stainless steel muffler system for the CX-7, from the premier Japanese Mazda after-market performance specialists! Holy Shirts!!:D
It's sure beautiful though...I wonder how it sounds for that much spare change!;) And is it performance enhancing, I wonder?
I'm thinkin' how many folks here in the Forum would be interested in spending that much cash on a muffler system, that, hopefully, would provide some performance benefit versus the OEM muffler system?....and that's the trouble with their USA web page...there's a LOT lost in translation. There are no specs, descriptions, or explanations of that particular part that I could find...anyone else have any thoughts about it?
Kindest regards

I traded in my 2005 Mustang GT convertible for the CX-7...family, safety, handling reasons. I love this car but the more I see these mods the more I want them. I started off with just the CPE cold air intake but now am thinking about their exhaust system, stand back system, larger intercooler, new blow off valve and then some. I loved my Mustang but this CX-7 handles even better...with all of the mods it will probably be faster too. So much for saving money!

Yeah, I feel your pain. Now my wife's car has more mods than mine!

I wish I had that problem Raider, can't convince the wife that "just because" is a good enough reason. She is ok with me getting the full exhaust from CP-E for the CX-7...she liked the sound of my Mustang with straight pipes. I am thinking the sound of the CP-E exhaust is going to be awesome (won't be as deep...but certainly won't be as loud). I figured that instead of the full exhaust I could get the cat back exhaust and the larger intercooler and see better gains this way. To take advantage of the mods I will probably need to get the standback system...thoughts? What about the cheaper chips that claim to be capable of modifying the fuel/air ratios??? Mods will be the CP-E cold air, intercooler, catback exhaust, standback, probably need a better blow off valve...then I should be good to go. 300+HP here I come!
Raider
08-05-2007, 12:05 PM
Those "chips" are just resistors, and they do not work. We have the larger intercooler, BOV, CAI, hoses. No ems is out yet for it. We are waiting to hear and see a good exhaust. We like the Auto Exe, it sounds pretty good, too. My wife just likes to modify if it helps the engine perform better.
CajunCruiser
08-05-2007, 12:31 PM
I like the Autoexe one too...just waiting to see what CP-E's is going to sound like to compare. That and I am also considering the fact that Autoexe is just the muffler setup (I think) and CP-E has a cat back with dual mufflers instead of the single one for half the price. By design I would think that two straight through mufflers would have significantly less back pressure than any single dual output muffler due to the way in which the exhaust has to travel.

08-08-2007, 08:44 PM
Its been awhile I posted here, so CP-E is making an exhaust system for our CX-7? thats cool, but honestly, Im not really that fond about exhaust, doesnt really add true HP.
CajunCruiser
08-08-2007, 10:36 PM
In a perfect world with a perfectly balanced system that allows just enough back pressure to ensure proper engine function; sure. If the system is a poorly designed or at least in this case crimped, bent, and turned multiple times there is more back pressure than is needed; then a straight flow exhaust will unleash quite a bit of power. I put on about 25hp with my Mustang this way. I am not sure of the numbers but I would think that it would be in the neighborhood of 8-10 HP gains? Anyone? Besides...I like the slightly louder/deeper sound. Guess it is all a matter of preference.

Well, I know just like Corksport will, CPE will post up dyno results of their work. It is a wait and see. They are making a lot of stuff from a small shop!

I am pretty impressed with them myself. I was in contact with Josh from CP-E and he is going to let me know when the Exhaust and EMS system are going to be available. It should be fairly soon from what I understand which is good because I wanted to get them all together. I saw the Corksport one which I like also but not sure about the price and once again I am not certain I want the whole exhaust at this time.
