Does anyone know how to turn off FOREVER that anoying seatbelt warning beeper ? It's driving me crazy ! The weight of my laptop alone makes it go off on the passenger seat. As for the driver. If I stop somewere to rest or talk on the phone or whatever if I take my seatbelt off again. It will go on and on and on....
Dealer is of no help. Says it's illigal to do so (I doubt it)

Help ?

I have the same issue... I was reading the manual last night and read that it CAN be turned off and all we need to do is contact the dealer.

Hopefully you just need to call a different dealer.

Usually it involves no mechanical intervention just a secret sequence of buttons puched... Other dealer will do it for 1.2 hours of labor ! I feel I'm getting robbed here...
 very frustrating

In the CX7, you HAVE to get the dealer service department to use the WDS computer and plug into the OBDII port to disable it. It take about 10 seconds, if they charge you 1.2 hour, that's mean they doesn't want you to do it and give you a rediculous price to dis-encourage you. It's how nice you ask and if you have to lie a little and try to make sense why do you it disable. Most reasonable service department will do it for free if they feel that you are harmless (that mean you won't sue their ass off, years from now if you get in fatal accident with out the seat belt on and blame them for it). If you have to, and have good relationship with your sales person; ask him (or her) nicely and they properly can help you. Hope this help.

Why not just keep the seat belt plugged in? It'll stay flush against the seat back and won't be in the way.

I don't know what you are experiencing, but my warning beep does NOT make a sound when I'm parked, car IN PARK and running, seatbelt off. My laptop does not make it go off (though significantly heavier items in the passenger seat do , like my big camera bag with camera and all lenses in it).

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't have it turned off. I don't let anyone ride in my car without their seatbelt, nor do I drive without it on. As for resolving the inanimate object problem, I just clip the seatbelt or move the item to the floor (where it's safer anywhere).

im surprised that after all the ad campaigns and many years of research proving that seatbelts save lives, there are still people out there that refuse to wear them. as a father of three, i am blown away when i see kids bouncing around the back seat of a car and the parent oblivious to what is going on... mindnumbing. i think that is part of evolution, and the weeding of the weak.

..... I would like to remove the seat belt warning for the passenger side sensor since I often have to use my laptop for work and when I leave my laptop bag sitting on the seat where it is easily accessible the sensor detects someone sitting there and constantly goes off.......... I think some people are experiencing situations like this as well.

Why don't you put the laptop into the center console?? It was actually designed to hold and fit a laptop.. that's why it's so deep. Also, you might notice the cable run on the right front of the top of the console under the lid. Or, just plug the seatbelt in like the others said. ;)

if i put my backpack on the passenger seat, the bell goes off and the airbag off light is also on. i just put it on the floor. one of those things we have to adapt to i suppose. kinda like the guy complaining about having to hit the lower window button twice since it stops at the 1" crack... i dont smoke but im sure smokers love that feature... ;)

its actually kinda cool. If you know it's hot outside you can safely crack your windows about 1" and vent the moonroof (if equipped). And since the CX7 (actually all mazda's since 2004) comes with an "Engine Immobilization System", it makes it really hard to hotwire and steal. i like the preset gap. It's just another one of those features you discover later on that's kinda cool... kinda like the lower door seal... keeps your pants (skirt/dress etc) clean.

Hey! That was me!
BTW... It doesn't stop at a wide enough gap to smoke and I figured out how to disable that feature, which also smoothed out the auto-down feature.

ok, first i don't care about the safety issues other members are talking about. For those persons that the beep bothers them here's how to remove it.
It took me under 30 minutes ;) but the hard part was identifing the cable that i was going to unplug. You will need only a flashlight and a very thin flat screwdriver. (None: this will also remove the seat belt icon from the panel and it will never turn on).
There is a cable that comunicate the buckle with the main console. I notice the cable that goes from the buckle to the under of the seat. i followed the cable using a led flashlight and pulling just a little to identifing by looking under the seat. you will have to pull the cable on the side of the seat very gently (this is to identify it) while you are looking under the seat use a flash light. The cable may not be easy to spot keep looking for a black cable that feels loose. the cable comes from the side to the front of the seat and then it turns back and then down to the main unit under the seat.
You will have to find your way with the crewdriver under the seat and remove the electrical unit that hangs from a metal frame. (the cable that you're about to unplug it's on the back of this unit). Using the screw driver press the plastic tooth and pull the unit from the metal frame (this may take a while). Once you have the unit, turn it arround and pull the gray plug again presing the plastich tooth of the plug. Be sure you are pulling the correct one by following again the cable from the buckle to this unit.
Put the unit back on the metal frame and that's it!
I tested my cx-7 and there is no problem what so ever. I also did it without unpluging the battery. I kept the passenger seat warning because i have a few friends that don't like to use seat bealts. but i look under the passenger seat and it's the same a the driver in fack it's even easier. I you want, try identifing the cable on the passenger seat first, since my CX-7 GT has a lot of cables under the driver seat because of the power seat.
I don't think this will void the waranty but if anybody knows otherwise please tell me so when i take my cx-7 to service remember to plug it back
ENJOY!;)
