I have had the reflash done, but the car still balks when I need to jump into traffic. Anyone with a similar issue? I love the car. I'm just concerned that my old driving habits are going to get me killed (or worse, yelled at by my wife).

Mine is better after the reflash but still no drag racing monster.

My Turbo Baja definately pulls harder down low.

I still think their programming is limiting throttle and power on takeoff and at lower rpms. I am getting more now, but I still don't think I am getting what we should.

You oghta consider some bolt on items to get some power. The stock intake and intercooler are essentially restricting the ability for our motors to breathe. As I have posted a lot, ours has a lot more pep, and even gets 20-25 mpg, too. No, no dyno yet, in house selling mode.

Unfortunately some of us are not tech savvy. I would love to add the mods suggested, but I have never worked on an engine more than changing the oil. I also am certain that the mods will void any warranty that I have through Mazda. The dealership loves to argue about anything. I also do not want to drive around with a CEL on.

Fear not, my wife is not tech savvy , either, and she installed all the mods. This is basically her car, and she wants to know what goes onto it.

As for warranty, it will void the part it replaces only. The parts installed do not give a CEL, either. Our dealer sucks, which is why they never touch it, except for warranty related issues. The Service Manager and I are in good standing, so he has one mechanic service our car. The rest are knuckle scraping cavemen.

How tough were the CAI and BOV to install? Any pictures?

No BOV yet, on order. TMIC and CAI are installed.

TMIC pics are in the how-to for the TMIC here:
http://www.mcx7.com/showthread.php?t=386

The CAI is available from CPE. Here is ours

here is the product page for the CAI:

here is the TMIC link:

As for the BOV, I have heard it is pretty east for the speed6. 2 bolts hold it on, and all there is is some adjusting to do. I will let you all know in an install and review thread for it. I am installing a TurboSmart BOV. Shadow1 has a TurboXS installed on his right now.

Your pictures of the TMIC does not show one with the ducting on it after the mod. Does the ram air ducting still fit?

It fits like a charm. Let me see. Yup, a pic with it on!

Need to keep this on topic though. Sorry for threadjacking...

Raider,

First, thank you for the picture and the feedback that the ducting still fits. What thickness is your TMIC? I read there were 3 sizes but the largest one said it would not fit the stock ducting.

Thanks to you I am seriously considering the CAI and TMIC changge.

Do you have any dyno sheets of before and after?

We have not dyno'd them. CPE did and got 20 on their intake. ETS has 20 hp gains posted in their manufacturer's site for hp gains from it. We just really need a BOV, stock sucks. Flash or no flash, these mods are helping the engine breathe, and my wife and I feel that even though she is a leadfoot, they help her get 20-25.5 mpg.

Sounds like two items just got added to my list of things to buy...

Even if I have to revert them once every 2 years for the stinking smog checks out here...

smog check? Bah! Move to FL, no smog checks here, if it runs, it can be on the road!

In states like FL you can get away with anything car-wise. Plus no front tag. In MD we have inspections when you sell a car (quite extensive - they check lights, tires, brakes, cracks in windshields, etc). If you fail, you can't register it. Every 2 years we have emissions testing which is just an OBDII computer check on any car built after 96. Pre-96 they do tailpipe testing.
