thumping/drumming coming from the engine bay

there's a dull thumping sound coming from the front of the car that's starting to drive us nuts. it happens almost as soon as you start the car, in any gear and at about any speed until the road noise covers it up.

had them check it when went in for oil change and the tech said it was coming from the transmission, and that it was normal. blamed it on the torque converter "doing its job." anyone else having this problem?

not "doing its job". That is a lazy tech is my guess. GO to another dealer for a full inspection.

I get a single thump when I hit a bump (even a small one) under hard acceleration. It sounds like a bad tie-rod end or ball joint, but since I only have 10,000 miles on it, I hope that's not what it is.
