Hi all,
I have a low, but rather annoying noise from the front right of my CX-7. Every time I turn to the right at low speeds, I here this noise. It's like a clicking or a squeaking sound that appeared after say three months of driving. I think it's getting worse.
I sure mentioned it several times when the car was in for service, although there seem to be a large number of deaf mechanics out there... I'll force the tech to ride with me next time, but wonder if anyone is hearing noise at low speed when turning (or just riding slowly)?
Cheers,
CB

that's weird man. sounds like a bad CV joint, but it's WAY earlier for that to be a problem. assuming you had a torn boot from the factory, it would take more than 18k miles for you to hear anything.

I read somewhere about faulty motor mounts on the CX7. Can this be causing this type of sounds too?

Check your ball joints, your struts, and motor mounts first.
Insure all are tightly secured and the motor mount is not broken etc...
Next put the car on jack stands and turn the wheel and try to tip it and out at the top or bottom. If it moves there it is the wheel bearings.. Not greased at the factory...
If that is okay try moving the wheel left and right while you are standing there and see if you can hear where the noise is coming from.

it could be a bad ball joint, cv joint.. try to check it. I've experience that kind of problem before and after some check ups it turned out that my mazda struts (http://www.automotivemazparts.com/mazda-strut/) needs a replacement. good luck

I hear the sound also when driving straight but on somewhat bumpy roads...
I have had CV joint problems on an old Audi before, and it was a much more pronounced miss sound. Anyway, can someone tell me where the motor joints are located, I have no clue.
Thanks for the helpful advice.

It is the big wishbone underneath the engine.
It will look like this, only stock.

Hi all,
I just heard back from the dealership. They say it's a transmission mount that has given in. I hope they are right. I'll add info on the progress...
Best,

I have the perfect solution...
Stop driving slow!

Picked up the car today, first thing I hear is the knocking sounds...
... And having driven 3 miles, smoke starts to come out from the engine! The baboons had not screwed the oil cap back on. The whole engine compartment was soaked in oil. I cannot believe this!
They send a driver out with additional oil (and some kitchen cleaning stuff to remove the oil from my driveway, just that aggravates me). I drove back the car to the retailer, and this time I get to talk with the head of the service department. He went with me, heard the noise and said it was going to be a tough one.... Like if I would care. I will ask for a CX7 loaner till mine is fixed. And cleaned.
I'll demand a few extra years of extended warranty for this f-up. Anyone having any suggestion on what more to ask for..?
